item duping

a lot of people would punch you in the face if they knew you were reading this page, because item duping and/or pokemon duping is strictly unethical. not only does it make anything rare (whether a masterball or a shiny arceus) as common and worthless as a potion, duping subsequently takes away from the authenticity and allure of the pokemon series. that's pretty serious stuff.
regardless, as i've said before i'm just going off the notes in my folder. and the first trick is something i continue to use.

because come on, everyone loves pp max.

pokemon emerald - dupes items and pokemon
this method is accessible in the third gen. GBA game "pokemon emerald" once you have beaten the elite four and gained access to the battle frontier. head to the battle tower, located at the top of the frontier.

once you're here, head to its pc and unload all but one of your party members.

this method allows you to dupe up to 6 pokemon at a time, as well as their items. if you care about which pokemon you dupe so you can carry them over to your ds games via pal park (i didn't), pick them now and place these pokemon in their own pc box, preferably the first box for quick accessibility. next, equip them with whichever items you want to dupe.

note: the two pokemon you select below MUST have different items equipped. the game will not allow you to proceed if both your pokemon have masterballs equipped.

     now that you have set up your pc box with up to 6 pokemon holding the items you want to dupe, save your game. this ensures that your pokemon are saved within the pc. once you've saved your game, put your chosen pokemon in your party and head down and left, to the blue-haired woman furthest to the right at the counter. your conversation with her will proceed as such;

woman - Where the talents of TRAINERS are put to the test!
Welcome to the BATTLE TOWER!
I am your guide to the LINK MULTI BATTLE ROOMS.
Would you like to take the LINK MULTI BATTLE ROOM challenge?

select CHALLENGE

woman - The BATTLE ROOM offers two levels of challenge, Level 50 and Open Level.
Which is your choice?

select LV. 50

Now please select the two POKeMON that are to be entered.

select two pokemon with different items

woman - Before entering a BATTLE ROOM, your progress must be saved. Is that okay?

select YES

at this point, you will see all text fields disappear, but the save game menu doesn't load for a couple seconds. this is your indication that you are about to dupe successfully. when the save game menu opens, do not save. instead, turn off your game (either power-off or soft reset). when you re-enter your file, your character will be standing in front of the woman, and you will have your pokemon in your party, ready to battle in the battle room. but wait, go check out your pc box. they're in there as well! woot. deposit your pokemon into the same box, then save your game and repeat from the first step.

i've managed to get my time per dupe down to about 40 seconds using some strategy. i recommend NOT duping all 6 pokemon at a time, as this requires that you switch out your lead every time. so put one pokemon in your front line, make sure it's not holding an item, then fill up with your 5 prospective dupes, each with an item. when you select your pokemon to challenge, pick your lead and whoever the next pokemon is in your lineup. removing any items from your leader removes the possibility that your first and second pokemon can't battle because they're carrying the same items.

you'll get into the groove of it after a while, no worries. the next step after duping to your heart's content is to transfer everything over to your ds game using the pal park. note: you can only transfer 6 pokemon (and their items) to your ds game per day... unless you have multiple ds games. but that'd be silly.

throw me some feedback! forums
